Hi folks, your favorite retired Norwegian tug-boat captain (not really), and still-employed (for now) tech dude (actually true) who also writes erotica novellas for fun, hollering back at you! *whew*
I'm not from the US, so lots of things going on here puzzle me. One of those things is how the whole foster care system seems to work, and how so many young people are at risk of "aging out" of it and winding up on the streets with no functioning support system.
The other thing is the homeless situation. Living and working in the SF Bay Area, I've seen my fair share of homeless encampments. Everything from true dystopian hell-scapes to actually decent communities. Lots of people stuck in that situation have jobs, families (many are police officers, firefighters, teachers) - they just don't have a permanent structure to call home.
So naturally, I decided to turn up the kinkometer, and start my new series Street Slave with those themes/settings in mind.
I've submitted the first book of the series to Amazon for pre-order - we'll see how long it takes them to vet it. Once it's out, you'll get to follow along as Amber makes her way in the scary world of Corvallis, Oregon, alone and without any prospects except to submit herself to the strange rules and practices of Camp Corvallis.
Will this book change the world? No. Will it make you think? Maybe. At the very least you'll wonder what the hell is up with this Svalbard guy, and why isn't he writing the fourth Spanked on the Rails book yet?
Cheers,
Erik
